Landscape Management - Master Planning - Design Brief:
The client, Manly Council (now Northern Beaches Council) adopted a Tree Management Strategy in October 2011 which covered trees on both public and private land. The project was carried out in three stages:
1. Data collection. The applicant and team walked each street in Manly to collect information on existing street tree species, and opportunities and constraints for tree planting;
2. Selection of street tree species for each street and preparation of a draft document; and
3. Finalising the document for public exhibition.
The Street Tree Master Plan Prepared:
• Contains an analysis of the existing conditions and major issues impacting on Manly’s street trees
• Describes the individual character of each of the 13 Council precincts, streetscape character and the opportunities and constraints for each one
• Prescribes the street tree species for every street within Manly
• Contains technical arboricultural and horticultural information eg stock specification, street tree planting details and an establishment specification;
• Contains species information on all the trees selected including an individual one page guide to 50 tree species and
• Contains a Guide for residents on how to select and plant a tree.
